Motorcyclist charged with DUI Manslaughter following crash that killed his passenger in Hillsborough County

Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol continue to investigate a crash involving a single motorcycle.

The crash occurred on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at approximately 4:09 a.m. at I-275 and I-4 in Hillsborough County.

According to a preliminary investigation, 37-year-old Jonathon Mark Wing of Tampa was operating a Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle northbound on I-275 exiting onto eastbound I-4. Wing lost control and collided with a guardrail on the inside shoulder.

A 29-year-old Tampa woman, a passenger on the motorcycle, sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Wing, who suffered minor injuries, was found to be impaired and subsequently arrested by FHP Troopers for DUI Manslaughter.

The roadway reopened at approximately 10 a.m.
