Motorcyclist Critically Injured in Pinellas Bayway Crash

A motorcyclist was injured in a crash that occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on Friday, August 24, 2018 on the Pinellas Bayway near Brittany Drive South.

According to the St. Petersburg Police, a 2000 Suzuki motorcycle, driven by 19 year-old Kyle Russell Lowman of St. Pete Beach, was eastbound on the East/West Pinellas Bayway in the median lane.

A 2010 Jeep Wrangler, driven by 68 year-old Lawrence Elliot Morse of St. Petersburg, was exiting Point Brittany, attempting to turn left onto the Bayway.

Investigators say that Morse failed to yield from his stop sign, pulled out and struck the side of the Suzuki.

The Suzuki went down onto its left side and slid into the median.  Lowman who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash was transported to Bayfront Health St. Pete in critical condition.

Morse, who was not hurt as a result of the crash, suffered a medical episode afterward and was also transported to Bayfront Health St. Pete.

The investigation continues.
