Posted: October 30, 2015
A Clearwater motorcyclist died in a crash at approximately 11:27AM on Friday, October, 30, 2015.
Florida Highway Patrol has identified the motorcyclist as 22 year-old Corey Thomas Hunt of Clearwater. Hunt was traveling eastbound on a 2000 Triumph motorcycle on Belleair Road at a high rate of speed east of Belcher Road.
Peter Petervary, the 78 year-old driver of a 2001 Buick Century, was exiting a private driveway at 2205 Belleair Road completing a left turn and traveled into the path of the motorcycle.
Hunt was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene of the crash. According to FHP, Hunt was fleeing an earlier attempt/discontinued traffic stop by a Clearwater Police officer when the crash occurred.
Hunt was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and alcohol does not appear to have played a role. Petervary and his 77 year-old female passenger suffered only minor injures.
No charges are expected in the incident.
