Motorcyclist Flees Scene of Crash Leaving Behind His Uninjured Passenger and Another Motorcyclist Dead

Investigators from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) have identified the motorcyclist involved in fatal crash in the eastbound lanes of I-4 at 50th Street in Hillsborough County. The crash occurred at approximately 3:33 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2019.

According to troopers, two motorcycles were traveling eastbound on I-4 west of 50th Street, when they collided.

Amy Jones, age 30 of Dover, was the passenger with the male operator on the first motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle was able to come to a controlled stop but the second motorcycle collided with the south shoulder barrier wall.

35 year-old Eric Lee Jordan of Riverview, the operator of the second motorcycle, a 2016 Yamaha, was ejected over the side of the overpass and fell approximately 100 feet onto 50th Street.

Jones was not injured in the crash.

The first motorcyclist fled the scene and abandoned Jones at the crash scene.

The second motorcyclist, Jordan was transported to Tampa General Hospital where he died from his injuries.

The FHP has identified the driver of the first motorcycle as 29 year-old Aaron James Davis of Riverview.

Davis was identified utilizing driver records, social media and several anonymous tips received. Davis did come forward by contacting investigators.

Troopers say the case remains under investigation and charges are pending the outcome of the investigation. Investigators caution that specific details are subject to change.

The FHP expressed their appreciation to those members of the public that came forward with information relevant to the investigation.

All three subjects were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

Davis was operating a 2015 Kawasaki motorcycle.
