Motorcyclist killed in crash on 34th Street in St. Petersburg

On Thursday, September 21, 2023, at approximately 8:20 p.m., a grey Honda CBR600RR motorcycle, traveling at high speed, collided with a blue Hyundai Sonata at the junction of 34th Street North and 34th Avenue North in St. Petersburg.

The driver of the Hyundai headed west on 34th Ave. N., had traversed five lanes of traffic on 34th Street N. when it was struck on 34th Street by the southbound motorcycle, impacting the right rear side of the car. The impact caused the Hyundai to flip on its side.

The motorcycle rider, a 25-year-old resident of St. Petersburg, lost his life at the crash site. Meanwhile, the 34-year-old Hyundai driver, also hailing from St. Petersburg, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The intersection at 34th Street North and 34th Avenue North reopened to traffic at 1:32 a.m.

The investigation continues.
