Motorcyclist Killed in High-Speed Collision on Gandy Bridge

On October 19, 2024, at approximately 10:35 p.m., a fatal crash occurred on the Gandy Bridge involving a motorcycle and an SUV.

A 23-year-old man from Pinellas Park was operating a Honda CBR1000RR motorcycle, traveling westbound at a high rate of speed. He collided with the rear of a Hyundai Tucson driven by a 41-year-old Orlando man, also heading west on the bridge.

The impact caused the SUV to come to a stop in the travel lanes, while the motorcycle struck the outside barrier wall and caught fire. The motorcyclist was thrown into Tampa Bay upon impact. Tampa Police divers later recovered the rider, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the SUV sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities are investigating the incident.
