Motorcyclist Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Howard Frankland Bridge

Pasco: A fatal crash involving multiple vehicles occurred on northbound I-275 near the 35 Milepost at approximately 6:44 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2024.

An 18-year-old man from Greenville, Ohio, was riding a Honda motorcycle northbound in the outside lane. A Chevy Equinox, driven by a 65-year-old St. Petersburg man, was traveling in the outside center lane. Nearby, a Road Ranger Ford F150, operated by a 29-year-old Spring Hill man, was stopped on the outside shoulder to assist a disabled BMW X3.

As the motorcycle and Equinox approached the Road Ranger, the two vehicles collided. The collision redirected the motorcycle to the shoulder, where it struck the barrier wall. The motorcyclist was ejected from his vehicle and collided with the rear of the Road Ranger. The motorcycle continued forward, crashing into the rear of the disabled BMW.

The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the Equinox and Road Ranger were uninjured. The driver of the disabled BMW was not present at the time of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
