Motorcyclist Killed in Clearwater Crash
Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to an accident with injuries shortly after midnight at Gulf-to Bay Boulevard and Hercules Avenue.
The crash involved an SUV and a 2013 Suzuki motorcycle. The motorcyclist was transported to Largo Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
At about 4:30 am, the Clearwater Police confirmed that the motorcyclist, 23 year-old Joshua Douglass, involved in the early morning crash at Hercules Avenue and Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard has died.
According to investigators, he was traveling east at a high rate of speed when he collided with an SUV that was turning west on Gulf-to-Bay from Hercules.
The driver of the SUV was transported to Morton Plant Hospital with minor injuries.
Much of the roadway remains closed at this time. Those who are seeking to get to Clearwater High should approach the school in the eastbound lanes on Gulf-to-Bay from Keene Road.
