Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a traffic crash with serious injuries at Sunset Point Road and World Parkway.
A motorcyclist, a 33-year-old Clearwater man, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg as a trauma alert after the crash, which occurred at 4:14 p.m. The motorcyclist died after being taken to the
hospital.

Witnesses at the scene said the motorcyclist was speeding before the crash and ran the red light at the intersection, causing the collision.
Both westbound lanes of Sunset Point Road were shut down for the investigation, as well as one eastbound lane.
