According to investigators from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T), Carevic was operating his 2007 Yamaha R6 motorcycle northbound on Pasadena Avenue approaching the intersection of Gulfport Boulevard.
20-year-old Mark Miklos of Gulfport was driving his 2011 Toyota Tundra southbound on Pasadena Boulevard waiting to turn left at Gulfport Boulevard. Deputies say Miklos was facing a flashing yellow turn arrow while waiting for a clearing in traffic before making his left turn.
Deputies say the traffic signal for northbound traffic cycled to red and two lanes of traffic came to a stop. Carevic, however, failed to stop for the red light and continued through the intersection striking the Tundra which began the left turn.
Deputies say Carevic, who was wearing a helmet at the time of collision, was ejected from the motorcycle and transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Miklos was uninjured according to the report from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say alcohol was not a factor in the crash and their investigation continues.
