Clearwater firefighters were called to a boat fire on East Shore Drive early this afternoon.
A boat that had been tied to a dock there caught fire and then broke free from the dock. The boat was floating in the Intracoastal Waterway as crews got on board other boats to fight the fire.
A second boat located near the original vessel also suffered damage. No injuries were reported.
Dunedin Fire Rescue, the Coast Guard and Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
Sad update: A dog that lived aboard the boat that caught fire today is believed to have died.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time
