Northbound travel lanes on Interstate 275 approaching the Howard Frankland Bridge will be closed overnight for scheduled construction work, according to transportation officials.
The closure will take place from 11 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, through 5 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, weather permitting. During this time, northbound motorists will be required to exit I-275 at Gandy Boulevard (Exit 28) and follow posted detour routes.
Drivers are advised to allow additional travel time, as congestion and delays are possible along detour roadways. Southbound I-275 travel lanes, from Tampa to St. Petersburg, will remain open and are not affected.
The temporary closure is needed for crews to complete installation of overhead sign structures associated with the new southbound I-275 Howard Frankland Bridge project, which spans between Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
Additional project information is available through the Florida Department of Transportation.
