ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 16-year-old student at Northeast High School has been charged after making a threat to discharge a destructive device on campus.
The incident occurred during a verbal dispute between the 10th-grade student and a teacher. The threat was made in the presence of other students.
Authorities confirmed that no one was harmed and there was no immediate danger to students or staff. The student was taken into custody and transported to the Pinellas Juvenile Assessment Center.
The St. Petersburg Police Department emphasized that the safety of students is a top priority. Officials stated that any threats or weapons on campus will be thoroughly investigated, and students should be aware of the serious consequences of making such threats.
