Pinellas Park Police Department arrested a Seminole woman on Wednesday following an assault inside a behavioral health facility.
According to investigators, officers responded to Windmoor Healthcare at 11300 U.S. Highway 19 North on December 3, 2025, after receiving reports that a patient had attacked a registered nurse.
Police said the patient, identified as 58-year-old Karen Dedert, used the power cord from her ankle monitor to place it around the nurse’s neck and tighten it. The victim sustained injuries consistent with strangulation and is expected to recover.
Detectives later confirmed that Dedert was out on bond for a separate attempted murder charge from a November 4, 2025, case investigated by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. In that case, Dedert reportedly ambushed and stabbed her husband at their home on Tara Kay Court in Seminole. Information on that story can be found HERE.
Dedert was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Pinellas County Jail. She is charged with attempted murder.
