Two Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash Under U.S. 19 Overpass in Clearwater

Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a crash with serious injuries early Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred shortly after 12 p.m. on Countryside Boulevard under the U.S. 19 overpass.

A 77-year-old woman from Oldsmar, who was driving a Lincoln Town Car, was transported to Mease Countryside Hospital where she later died. Her 79-year-old husband, a passenger in the vehicle, was taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital in St. Petersburg and was listed in stable condition.

On Saturday evening, Clearwater Police reported that the passenger, taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, died from his injuries earlier in the day.

According to police, the Lincoln Town Car was traveling north on the U.S. 19 access road when it collided with a Jeep Wrangler that was on the southbound access road attempting a left turn onto Countryside Boulevard. One of the vehicles from the initial collision struck a third vehicle. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact Clearwater Police at 727-562-4242.
