BRADENTON — The Bradenton Police Department is investigating a homicide following a shooting at a medical complex in the 5200 block of 4th Avenue Circle East.
Police said officers responded to a report of shots fired at 12:48 p.m. Two victims were located. One victim died from their injuries. The second victim was transported to a hospital and remains hospitalized.
The Bradenton Police Department arrested
Keith Roberts, Jr., 29, who is charged with first-degree murder with a firearm and attempted first-degree murder with a firearm.
According to detectives, Roberts entered a suite of offices in the 5200 block of 4th Ave. Cir. E., and fatally shot his ex-girlfriend, Myshaela Burnham, 29. He then turned his gun on an office employee who witnessed the homicide. She remains hospitalized, and her name is not being released at this time.
911 callers described a vehicle seen leaving the scene. BPD quickly determined the car was traveling toward the Desoto Bridge and, with the assistance of the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office and the Palmetto Police Department, Roberts was taken into custody in Palmetto within 25 minutes of the shooting.
He agreed to be interviewed by Manatee Homicide Investigation Unit detectives and was arrested shortly before 6 p.m.
