On Saturday, August 10, 2024 at approximately 3:22am, Gulfport police officers
were dispatched to the area of 8th Ave S and 49th St S reference gunshots heard.
Officers arrived and determined at least 2 people were shot. Both victim’s were attended to and transported to Bayfront for further care. 49th St and 8th Ave S was blocked off to traffic for several hours but is now re-opened to the public.
The preliminary investigation has proven that multiple people and multiple vehicles are involved in this incident.
Victim #1:
21 year old black male with a Gulfport address
Victim #2:
19 year old black male with a St Petersburg address.
It is believed there is at least one other person shot/injured in this incident. That person arrived by private vehicle to the hospital.
Update: The 19 year old victim that was in critical condition is now in serious condition so it appears at this time that he is improving.
This is an active ongoing investigation and additional information will be released accordingly.
