On Thursday, January 19, 2017, at approximately 10:05 AM, a court authorized search warrant was executed at Mary’s Beverage Castle located at 4901 US Highway 301 S in Riverview.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Deputies along with agents from the Florida Division of Alcohol Beverage and Tobacco also responded to the scene to assist.
The search warrant was a result of two undercover “synthetic cannabinoid”, aka Spice, purchases from the owner of the business.
Hasan Kaabneh, age 49 of Tampa, was taken into custody and charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
As a result of the search warrant, forty-one packs containing Spice and drug paraphernalia were seized from inside of Mary’s Beverage Castle.
The total amount of Spice seized during this operation was 306.2 grams.
Spice or “Synthetic cannabinoids” is a name given to man-made mind-altering chemicals that are usually sprayed on dried, shredded plant material so they can be smoked (herbal incense) or sold as liquids to be vaporized and inhaled in e-cigarettes and other devices (liquid incense).  These “synthetic cannabinoids” attach to many of the same receptors in the brain as marijuana.  However, they are more powerful than marijuana and their actual effects can be unpredictable and can lead to serious or life-threatening conditions.
