Clearwater, FL – On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at approximately 10:10 p.m., emergency responders from Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue were dispatched to the 1200 block of South Missouri Avenue following a pedestrian-involved crash.
According to reports, a male pedestrian was crossing from east to west outside a designated crosswalk when struck by a southbound vehicle.
The 61-year-old pedestrian suffered critical injuries and was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital for medical treatment. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities closed the road for approximately three hours to conduct the investigation.
Preliminary findings suggest that alcohol may have played a role in the incident on the part of the pedestrian. Clearwater Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
