Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Vehicle on I-275 in St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg – A 32-year-old Clearwater man died after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Interstate 275 in St. Petersburg on Friday afternoon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 3:41 p.m. north of 22nd Avenue South. A 21-year-old woman from Dandridge, Tennessee, was driving a Toyota Prius southbound on I-275 when the pedestrian entered the roadway and into the path of the vehicle.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

Authorities have not released the names of those involved. The investigation is ongoing.
