Pedestrian pronounced dead after being struck by two vehicles

BRADENTON – An elderly Sarasota woman was killed while crossing the street in Bradenton after being struck by two vehicles.

The crash occurred on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at approximately 8:27 p.m.

Both vehicles stayed at the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a sedan driven by a 52-year-old man from Bradenton vehicle was traveling west on 26th Avenue East, east of 12th Street Court East.

A sport utility vehicle operated by a 21-year-old woman from Sarasota was also traveling west on 26th Avenue East, behind the first vehicle.

The pedestrian, a 73-year-old woman was walking south across 26th Avenue East, from the north shoulder before entering the path of the sedan which then collided with her.

FHP says following the initial collision, the SUV’s undercarriage also collided with the pedestrian who was pronounced deceased on scene. Both vehicles remained on scene.

The investigation continues.
