Pedestrian struck and killed in Pinellas Park crash

Officers from the Pinellas Park Police Department (PPPD) are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian, a 71 year-old male. The crash occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, 2022, in the 6500 block of Park Boulevard.

The pedestrian sustained severe injuries and was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he died of his injuries.

Investigators determined a 2018 Subaru Impreza, being driven by a 73 year-old female resident of St. Petersburg was traveling east on Park Blvd.  The male pedestrian stepped off the sidewalk into the vehicle’s path, and she could not stop to avoid the collision.

At this time, the male pedestrian’s information is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.  Police say that neither alcohol nor speed was a factor in this crash investigation and no criminal charges are pending.
