Pedestrian Struck and Killed by a Car Tuesday Night in Pinellas Park

Jamaris Dorsette, age 26 of Pinellas Park, was struck by a vehicle and killed in Pinellas Park.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in the 4600 block of 70th Avenue in Pinellas Park.

Pinellas Park Police Traffic Homicide Investigators and Patrol Units responded to a serious injury crash involving a vehicle that had struck a pedestrian in the 4600 block of 70th Avenue.

Dorsette was transported by ambulance from the scene to Tampa General Hospital where he later died from his injuries.  The driver of the vehicle, a 2007 Nissan Altima, 28 year-old Jevon Williams of St. Petersburg, remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.

Details of the crash are still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.  An update will follow once the investigation is complete.

The crash closed all east and westbound traffic on 70th Avenue between 46th and 47th
Street for hours during the investigation.

 

Dorsette was transported to Tampa General Hospital Trauma Center since nearby Bayfront Health St. Petersburg was closed to trauma patients and on EMS divert status.
