Pinellas County Deputies Conducting Death Investigation on Ft. De Soto East Beach
Detectives from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office are conducting a death investigation after a citizen found a dead body on Fort De Soto Park, east beach.
Deputies received the call at about 11:17 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017.
According to detectives 57-year-old Dyrle Burkett of St. Petersburg was found in the water near the shore. When deputies and paramedics arrived he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigators say Burkett was reported to have made earlier statements to harm
himself and say he died from unnatural causes.
Next of kin has been notified.
This continues to be an open and on-going investigation.
