Pinellas County Schools Student Arrested for Written Threats to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting at East Lake High School

On August 8, 2023, deputies arrested a Pinellas County Schools student for Threatening Communications or Threats of Mass Shooting.

According to detectives, 15-year-old Adam Brueggeman sent messages to another student regarding participating in a school shooting that would take place at East Lake High School.

The student who received the messages notified school personnel, who contacted law enforcement.

Detectives made contact with Brueggeman at his residence, where he admitted to sending the message, but told detectives the threat was a joke.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Brueggeman was taken into custody and transported to the Pinellas Juvenile Assessment Center.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to keeping our schools, our children, and our community safe. Anyone with information on any threats are asked to notify the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office immediately at (727) 582-6200 or via https://getfortifyfl.com/
