On December 17, 2023, deputies arrested a Pinellas County Schools student for Written Threats to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting.
According to deputies, a 13-year-old male student sent text messages to
another student regarding conducting a school shooting that would take place at Osceola Middle School. Deputies say the student was talking about a fellow student harassing him previously in the conversation. The parents of the student who received the messages contacted law enforcement.
Deputies made contact with the student and his mother, where he admitted to sending the messages but told deputies the threat was made out of emotion. After the investigation, the student was taken into custody and charged with Written Threats to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting. He was transported to the Pinellas Juvenile Assessment Center.
