Pinellas Park Police conducting an investigation after the discovery of incendiary devices

Officers and detectives from the Pinellas Park Police Department (PPPD) responded to the 12200 block of 62nd St N at approximately 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2020.

According to PPPD, a citizen located an undisclosed amount of incendiary devices.  Officers cleared the immediate area, and the devices were deemed safe by the Tampa Bomb Squad.

During the investigation, detectives learned the devices originated in the 3500 Block of 118th Ave N. Once located, they were moved to the new location on 62nd Street N. by the citizen.

The location off of 62nd St is within close proximity of the Pinellas Park High School. There was no impact on the student’s safety during this incident but some vehicles and buses were rerouted.

At this time, the area is safe, and there is no threat to the public.

The investigation is still active, and no other information is anticipated to be released until it completion.
