Pinellas Park Police Investigate Fatal Crash Involving a Man in a Wheelchair

PINELLAS PARK, FL – On Monday, March 31, 2025, at approximately 6:25 AM, a crash occurred at the intersection of 66th St N and 78th Ave N, claiming the life of a pedestrian. The Pinellas Park Police Department responded to the scene, where a Nissan Titan truck collided with Jeffrey Young, a 73-year-old man from Largo.

According to the investigation, the truck, driven by a 38-year-old man from Pinellas Park, was traveling north on 66th St N in the curb lane, approaching 78th Ave N. At the same time, Jeffrey Young, using a wheelchair, was crossing 66th St N in the crosswalk against the signal. The northbound and southbound traffic lights on 66th St N were green at the time of the incident, indicating that Jeffrey Young was crossing against the traffic flow. The truck struck him in the roadway, and despite being transported to a local hospital, Jeffrey Young was pronounced deceased.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated fully with authorities. Two passengers were also in the truck at the time of the accident: a 38-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man, both from Pinellas Park. The Pinellas Park Police Department continues investigating the circumstances of the incident.

The Pinellas Park Police Department urges all pedestrians to exercise caution, use crosswalks appropriately, and wear reflective or high-visibility clothing, particularly during early morning hours when sunlight is limited.
