The incident occurred at approximately 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, near 7th Street NW and 11th Avenue.
Officers arrived on the scene and located 37-year-old Ashley Linsey suffering a stab wound. Paramedics arrived and performed CPR while transporting her to HCA Florida Largo Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Largo Police Officers and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to track the suspect from the crime scene. Despite a lengthy search utilizing a helicopter and K-9, they were unsuccessful.
Limited details are available, but detectives were able to determine that Cyrus Jenkins was responsible and was arrested and facing charges of first-degree murder. He was booked into the Pinellas County Jail at 3:40 a.m. on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
Court documents state that Jenkins drove to a motel across from Linsey’s apartment complex. He then crossed Clearwater Largo Road on foot toward her apartment. A witness allegedly saw him arguing with Linsey while holding a knife and stabbing her. Jenkins fled back to his vehicle parked across the street. He was later found at a hotel in St. Petersburg wearing the same jacket seen in surveillance footage during the stabbing.
