Arrest Made in St. Petersburg Double Shooting that Injured a 10-year-old and his Uncle

St. Petersburg detectives have arrested Antwon Jones, 18, in connection with the February 11, 2025, double shooting in the 1400 block of 15th Street South.

Investigators determined that the shooting stemmed from a conflict between two groups. Around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Jones allegedly opened fire, striking two bystanders instead of his intended targets. The victims, a 40-year-old man, and his 10-year-old nephew were outside playing basketball when they were hit by gunfire.

The child suffered serious injuries but is now in stable condition. His uncle was treated and released from the hospital.

Jones faces multiple charges, including:

  • Two counts of Attempted Felony Murder
  • Delinquent in Possession of a Firearm
  • Two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance (ecstasy and cocaine)
