Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department are searching for 26-year-old Jacarius Courouthers, who is wanted for attempted felony murder.
On December 23, 2023, at 6:17 p.m., Courouthers and 18-year-old Daemond Murray fired multiple gunshots at a group walking near the 1700 block of Preston St. South.
The two, waiting in ambush, reportedly opened fire on a group of at least eight people. Several members of the group of eight returned fire and at least 50 shell casings were recovered at the scene.
During the exchange of gunfire, a bullet went into a nearby home, striking a woman who was on her living room couch. The injuries to her hip were not considered life-threatening.
Investigators arrested Daemond Murray on January 12, 2024, and charged him with attempted felony murder and felon in possession of a firearm. He possessed a Sig Sauer 9mm handgun at the time of his arrest.
