Shooting at the Bayhead Recreation Complex in Largo

The Largo Police are currently seeking a suspect in the Attempted Homicide (shooting) reported yesterday at 375 Seminole Blvd.
The suspect in yesterday’s shooting has been identified as Rion L. Schofield, B/M, 11/15/1990. Schofield is 5’5″, 160 lbs, and wears prescription glasses.
Investigation has revealed the suspect showed up alone at the park on a bicycle and started a verbal disturbance with a juvenile male subject that was already at the location with some friends. Â During the verbal disturbance the suspect displayed a gun before riding away. Â As the suspect started to ride away, he pointed the gun back toward the juveniles and fired multiple rounds. Â One round struck a 17 year old male in the arm/wrist area.
Schofield is believed to be armed and dangerous. Â Anyone with information on Rion Schofield’s location is asked to call the Largo Police Department at 727-587-6730 reference case # 14-006756. Â The primary investigator is Detective C. Berard.
This does not appear to be a random event, but as this is still an active investigation, no further details are available at present.

The Largo Police received a call of a shooting that occurred at the Bayhead Recreation Complex at approximately 7:39 PM Sunday evening.  The complex is located at 375 Seminole Blvd and the shooting occurred in the area of the skate park.
According to Largo Police Department, shortly before the shooting occurred a subject rode up to the area on a bicycle and started a verbal disturbance with a subject that was already at that location. Â After the two parties exchanged words, the subject who rode up on the bicycle produced a gun and started to fire it. He struck a juvenile male subject in the arm, resulting in non-life threatening injuries. Â No other injuries have been reported.
The suspect then rode away on his bicycle. Â The suspect is described as a short black male, approximately 5’5″. Â He was wearing a blue and orange hat, no shirt, and either beige or blue shorts. Â The subject has been described as thin and muscular. Â He was riding a female style beach cruiser bicycle.
Detectives remain on-scene and are actively working the case. Â Additional information will be released if/when available.
