Deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded to a shooting incident reported at around 1:35 a.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2023.
The incident took place at a home at 7850 134th Street N in Unincorporated Seminole. Upon arrival, deputies discovered an adult female victim who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. She was located at a neighboring home, and Chief Deputy Paul Halle said the victim may have suffered as many as 11 gunshot wounds.
Acting promptly, they worked alongside Seminole Fire Rescue crews to safely evacuate the 43-year-old woman from the area. She was then transported to a local trauma center for medical treatment.
Authorities suspected that the perpetrator, 65-year-old Wayne Dew, had barricaded himself in the home, prompting the deployment of the Sheriff’s Office SWAT team to the scene.
This was a domestic-related incident and not the first time Dew violently attacked the victim. At this point in time, deputies say that she is expected to survive her injuries.
Shortly before noon, a robot entered the home and found Dew dead from what is being described as a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
For public safety reasons, all lanes of Park Boulevard were closed between Oakhurst Road and 131st Street during the incident.
All services for Oakhurst United Methodist Church located at 13400 Park Boulevard, we’re been suspended due to the large law enforcement presence and road closures.
