At around 12:30 p.m. on May 1, 2023, law enforcement officials and fire rescue teams rushed to the Tru by Hilton St. Petersburg Downtown at 1650 Central Avenue in response to a report of gunshots.
The St. Petersburg Department officers who arrived on the scene discovered an injured employee of the hotel. That victim was a 25-year-male who was employed as a valet.
An additional victim, a 29-year-old woman was located and received medical at the scene from paramedics.
The 25-year-old man and 29-year-old woman were both in the parking garage at the time of the shooting. They suffered non-life-threatening injuries and remain in stable condition at a local hospital.
Police detectives are investigating the incident, which appears to be a targeted
attack. They do not believe it was a random occurrence.
Police continue to search for the person responsible.
