Shot Fired in Armed Robbery at Tyrone Square Mall in St. Petersburg

A subject stole a woman’s purse after he shot out her car window in the parking lot of Tyrone Mall in St. Petersburg.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:25 p.m. on Thursday, November 23, 2017.


On December 1, 2017, police released the following video and would like to speak with this person of interest in the armed robbery.  Investigators believe he has information about the armed robbery.


 

Police say a 51 year old woman walking to her parked PT Cruiser in the Tyrone Square Mall parking lot noticed a man following her.

She hurried to get into her car and lock her door. The man then fired one shot into her car, shattered her driver’s side car window.  He reached in and grabbed her purse and took off in a waiting Saturn.

The woman was not physically injured.

The Saturn was recovered shortly afterwards near 9th Ave. S /44th St. S.  It had been reported stolen a few days ago.

The vehicle was processed for evidence.

Detectives are investigating and viewing all available surveillance video from the area.

There were officers and mall security guards on the property, in the immediate area patrolling at the time.

Today and throughout the week-end, the police department will increase the number of police officers  in all areas of the parking lot as well as inside the mall.
