Shot Fired After Uber Driver Gets In Altercation with Two Potential Passengers at Adventure Island
Tampa Police responded to Adventure Island in Tampa, Florida on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at approximately 4:49 p.m.
Tampa Police responded to what was originally reported as a shooting in the parking lot of Adventure Island on Sunday afternoon. When officers arrived, they detained the parties involved. Although the original report of a shooting was incorrect, there was a round discharged from a gun.
29 year-old Julian Leon III, an Uber driver, was there to pick up potential passengers, 23 year-old Austin and 57 year-old Skylar Korb.
There was a verbal dispute about the Korbs being refused transportation due to being wet and not being allowed in the Uber vehicle. This verbal altercation progressed to a physical altercation.
During the altercation, Leon, fighting with both potential passengers and in fear for his life, reached into the vehicle and took out a gun as a measure of self-defense. A struggle for the gun ensued and a round was discharged.
There were no injuries or damages sustained. There have been no charges applied at this time and the investigation continues.
