Clearwater Police say that a motorcyclist that fled from officers ended up spending the night in jail after, “trying to show off for his date.”
22 year-old Taylor Beverly was booked into the Pinellas County Jail after fleeing from officers of the Clearwater Police Department (CPD).
According to arrest documentation, Beverly was operating a white motorcycle with no visible tag southbound on Myrtle Avenue approaching a red light at Chestnut Street at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021.
Officers say that Beverly ran through the red light eastbound on Chestnut Street while making eye contact with a CPD officer. The officer activated their lights and sirens and initiated a traffic stop, but Beverly accelerated to a high speed and began to weave in and out of traffic. While fleeing, he ran multiple red lights, and drove well over 100 mph.
A description of the motorcycle, driver and passenger were relayed to other officers in the surrounding area. One of those officers, located Beverly stopped the red light located at Gulf to Bay Boulevard and Belcher Road. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Police say that Beverly stated he was trying to show off for his date, their first. The female passenger stated she was screaming at him to stop but he refused.
Beverly is facing charges of fleeing and eluding a police officer.
