Clearwater Fire & Rescue and Clearwater Police are at a minor plane accident scene at Clearwater Airpark, located at 1000 N. Hercules Ave.
The incident occurred shortly after noon on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, involving a 1963 single-engine Piper PA-28 Cherokee with only the pilot on board.

During takeoff, the pilot experienced a potential engine power loss when the plane reached an altitude of approximately 200 feet. According to the City of Clearwater Public Safety, the pilot declined any medical assistance at the scene.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has been informed and will investigate the incident.
