CLEARWATER — Detectives with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Robbery & Homicide Unit are investigating a homicide in unincorporated Clearwater.
On Thursday, January 29, 2026, at approximately 2:58 p.m., deputies responded to the area of 29081 U.S. Highway 19 North after a 911 caller reported that a suspect had called him and stated he killed his mother.
Upon arrival at the Serendipty Mobile Home Park, deputies located the victim, 65-year-old Yolanda Sanchez, in a bedroom with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

During the investigation, detectives determined that a verbal altercation occurred between the victim and her son, 24-year-old Daniel Sanchez. The altercation became physical. Investigators reported that Daniel Sanchez admitted to stabbing his mother multiple times.
Daniel Sanchez was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder. He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.
According to the information gathered, Daniel resided at the same residence where the stabbing incident took place. Yolanda, on the other hand, resided at 2250 SR 580, also in unincorporated Clearwater.
Next of kin has been notified. The investigation remains ongoing.
