Son Decapitates His Mother at Her Home in Oldsmar

Posted – January 1, 2015

On December 31, 2014 at approximately 7:22 PM, a 911 call was placed regarding an incident at 1924 Sheffield Court in Oldsmar, Florida.

27 year-old Mario Gomez called 911 telling dispatchers his mother, 48 year-old Maria Suarez-Cassagne, was killed by his 23 year-old brother, Christian Gomez. During this call he reported that his brother had cut her head off.

Deputies arrived on scene and met Mario in front of the residence then made sure no one else was inside. They located Maria’s body outside of the residence near the garbage cans and her head inside the can. It appears that Christian dragged her body from the garage and was attempting to place her body in the can but was unable to.

Mario advised Deputies that Christian had left the residence. Deputies immediately set up a perimeter in the area to look for him.

They attempted to stop him. He did not stop and a brief foot chase ensued resulting in Christian being taken into custody.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Christian admitted to the murder during interviews with detectives.

The murder weapon, an ax, has been recovered.

Christian has been charged with 1st Degree Murder and is currently in the Pinellas County Jail.

The investigation continues.
