A 10th grade student at Gibbs High School, 850 34th St. S., was charged with having a gun on campus.
Thanks to a tip, the handgun was found in the 16-year-old boy’s backpack.
According to police, he did not make any threats against the school or anyone else. The student will have consequences at the school level and is charged with possession of a firearm on school property.
The St. Petersburg Police Department stated that the safety of students a top priority and any weapon on campus, or other threat to school safety, will be thoroughly investigated.
