At approximately 9:15 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, officers of the Largo Police Department responded to southbound US Hwy 19 N on the Whitney Rd overpass for a two vehicle traffic crash.
A white GMC van hauling a trailer was stopped on the right shoulder. The driver was filling the van with gas when a silver Nissan Rogue rear ended the trailer.
The driver was sandwiched in between the trailer and the van. He was transported to a local hospital for non life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Nissan is under investigation for DUI and was also transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Southbound US Hwy 19 N will be shut down for the next few hours while debris is cleaned up from the roadway.
The Largo Police Departments Traffic Homicide Unit responded and is investigating the crash.
