At about noon on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department responded to a call of a person shot in the 3900 block of 13th Avenue South.
When they arrived, officers found 36-year-old Terrance Hill, with life-threatening injuries.
Hill was transported by ambulance to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg, where he died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The suspect wanted in the homicide of Hill has been identified and charged.
Douglas Lee Dawson, age 34, turned himself into the Pinellas Jail shortly
before midnight on Thursday, October 5, 2023. He was wanted on several previous outstanding warrants.
He was subsequently charged with murder in the second degree for the shooting
death of Hill. Also, he is being held on violation of probation charges related to tampering with an electronic monitoring device and felony battery.
The two men were known to each other and had been arguing before the shooting.
