St. Petersburg Police received a call about a suicidal individual who made statements about causing harm to himself during a domestic dispute off 12th Way N. They received information that he left in a vehicle and may be armed.
Police eventually located the vehicle in a parking lot near the intersection of 118th Ave and 28th St N, and took all precautions to safely approach it. To do this they utilized resources from the SWAT Team.
Sean Raymond Lopez, age 23 was found deceased inside the vehicle.
Preliminary indications are that he sustained a self inflicted gunshot wound. An investigation into Lopez’s death is underway, but at this time it appears to be a suicide.
