ST. PETERSBURG, FL — A man was arrested early Thursday morning for attempted first-degree murder after attacking a longtime acquaintance at a residence in the 5600 block of 10th Street North.
According to St. Petersburg Police, the incident occurred on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at approximately 3:30 a.m. when 62-year-old Victor Taylor Love rode his bicycle to the victim’s home and began yelling outside the bedroom window.
When the victim approached the window, Love allegedly punched through the glass and stabbed the victim in the hand. The victim fled to a neighbor’s residence, but police say Love continued the assault, striking the victim with a crowbar.

Officers located Love hiding in the property’s backyard and took him into custody without incident. He has been charged with attempted murder in the first degree.
According to a neighbor, the victim allowed Love to stay in a tent in his backyard. Love was arrested earlier this year for threatening the same victim with a knife. Charges of assault were later dropped.
Love was arrested for failing to appear for driving with a suspended/expired license on July 23, 2025, and released on a surety bond. This attack occurred about 14 hours after his release.
The victim received medical treatment at a local hospital and has since been released.
