ST. PETERSBURG — Police are investigating a shooting that left a teenage boy and an adult woman injured late Wednesday morning.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, officers responded at about 10:40 a.m. to a report of shots heard near 15th Avenue South and 11th Street.
When officers arrived, they located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds — a teenage boy and an adult woman. Both were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police said the teenage boy is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The condition of the adult woman has not been released.
One person is currently in custody, though police have not released additional details about the suspect or the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
As a precaution, nearby schools were temporarily placed on lockdown while officers secured the area. The lockdowns have since been lifted and schools have resumed normal operations.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Police have not released additional information.
