St. Petersburg Police detectives are investigating a homicide at the Lincoln Shores Apts., 11601 4th Street North, and just recovered the victim’s 2-year-old son, deceased.
At about 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023, a 20-year-old woman, Pashun Jeffery, was found dead in her apartment at Lincoln Shores. St. Petersburg Police Chief Anthony Holloway described the homicide scene as involving a vicious stabbing incident.
Her two-year-old son, Taylen Mosley, was missing. The child and his mother were last seen at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, when the victim’s family left the apartment. Thomas Mosley, on his 21st birthday, remained with the two victims.
There were preliminary reports of a “noise” at or near the apartment at approximately 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, but none of the neighbors notified the police.
Based on new court documents, Thomas Mosley showed up at his mother’s home at approximately 9:03 p.m. on Wednesday with severe cuts to his hand and arms. The severe cuts were deemed consistent with knife slippage during the violent attack on Pashun Jeffery. He was admitted to St. Anthony’s hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The victim’s family went to the apartment on Thursday and noticed blood on the sidewalk leaving the victim’s apartment. Apartment management entered the apartment and located Jeffery dead with over 100 stab wounds. The 2-year-old boy was missing.
Police believed the child could be in danger, and a search began for his whereabouts. At least one bloodhound was seen in the area assisting in the investigation along with drones. Multiple bodies of water were being searched. A search was also ongoing in the area of Lake Maggiore on Friday afternoon.
A bloody fingerprint on a cleaning bottle placed intentionally under a bed at the crime scene was linked to Thomas Mosley. A bloody shoe print with a “Gucci” emblem was located on the bathroom floor where the victim was found. Thomas Mosley was wearing a pair of Gucci slides when he arrived at his mother’s home, according to his brother.
Based on arrest info, mentioning various investigative tools, Mosley left the apartment around 8:42 p.m. and traveled to the Lake Maggiore area before arriving at his mother’s house at approximately 9:03 p.m. Her home is about ten blocks away from the lake.
On Friday evening, Chief Holloway confirmed that the body of Taylen was located in the mouth of an alligator in the area of Dell Holmes Park in St. Petersburg on the northwest corner of Lake Maggiore. The body was located a few minutes after 6 p.m. An officer discharged his firearm at the alligator, who was killed and recovered the body of Taylen intact.
He also announced that Thomas Mosley of 1700 21st Street is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
The Pinellas Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death of two-year-old Taylen Mosley. The child died of drowning.
The detectives and officers of the St. Petersburg Police Department worked tirelessly on this case. The Department thanked all the agencies assisting in this investigation. The dive teams of St. Petersburg Fire Rescue, Clearwater Fire Rescue, PCSO, and Tarpon Springs Fire Rescue searched the ponds and lakes near the apartment complex. Sunstar assisted, Search and Rescue of Central Florida searched with cadaver dogs, and FWC assisted with the alligator. The Department would especially like to thank the FBI and FDLE for lending their resources in this important investigation.
