The northbound lanes of Tyrone Boulevard closed overnight between 5th Avenue N and 9th Avenue North due to an overnight crash.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:55 a.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022 when the driver of white Infiniti traveling south on Tyrone Blvd lost control near 9th Avenue North.
The car flipped and caught fire. Fire Rescue crews arrived and knocked down the fire with an extinguisher then began the process of extricating the 25 year-old male driver who was trapped in the car. He was transported to Tampa General Hospital with life threatening burns and injuries.
At 4 p.m., the St. Petersburg Police released information that the driver, Demond Perry died as result of his injuries.
There is a reward of up to $5,000 offered for information about the homicide of Demond Perry. The reward is offered through Crime Stoppers.
Investigators have learned that Perry suffered gunshot wounds before he crashed the white Infiniti.
This is the first homicide in St. Petersburg in 2022.
