St. Petersburg Police Investigating After 19 Year-old Fatally Shot

Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department are investigating a shooting that happened just before 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 31, 2019.

Police say that a 19 year-old man was shot somewhere in the 4800 block of 20th Avenue South.

He reportedly made it to a nearby home where paramedics were called.  He was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.

The St. Petersburg Police Department released additional information at approximately 11:35 p.m. reporting that the victim died of his injuries.

The victim has been identified as 19 year-old Me’Arri M. Melton of St. Petersburg.

Police are still actively investigating. 

20th Avenue South between 48th and 49th Street remains closed to traffic.
