St. Petersburg Police Searching for Hit and Run Driver that Struck a Bicyclist

Update – September 16, 2017

Sunday evening, St. Petersburg Police received a tip about a possible vehicle involved in the Hit and Run.

Police impounded a ’98 Red Chevrolet Tahoe and it’s under further investigation. Police haven’t arrested anyone at this time.

The victim remains in critical condition.

Police are investigating a serious injury hit and run crash. At 8:43 p.m., in the 4200 block of 1st Ave N., a large dark SUV hit a bicyclist. The SUV left the scene.

According to the St. Petersburg Police, 23 year-old Connor James Bolton of St. Petersburg was riding his bicycle eastbound on 1st Avenue North, against the flow of traffic.  He was struck head-on by a westbound vehicle.

The bicycle and Bolton came to rest in the middle of 1st Avenue North.  The vehicle stopped momentarily, then took off westbound on 1st Avenue North.  Bolton was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in critical condition.

The vehicle was described as red or burgundy on color, possibly a General Motors truck or S.U.V.  The vehicle should have damage to the front end and possibly to the hood and windshield.
